Bingang Railway has seen its operating efficiency rise steadily year after year since it began operations, with social benefits continuing to be released, thanks to strong leadership from the municipal party committee and municipal government and vigorous support from relevant departments. Key municipal leaders visited the site in person for field research and helped resolve major issues critical to the long-term development of the local railway, including integrating it into the national railway network to achieve direct transport. As of September 28 this year, Bingang Railway's annual freight volume had exceeded 2 million tonnes, reaching 2.0079 million tonnes. Of that total, alumina shipments accounted for 1.5082 million tonnes, while bauxite, coal and other incoming cargo totaled 499,700 tonnes, up 35.90% year on year, setting a record for the same period since direct transport began and highlighting significant gains in transport capacity. Since Bingang Railway achieved direct transport in May 2023, Dongfenggang Station has handled a cumulative freight volume of 5.15 million tonnes, strongly advancing the structural adjustment toward shifting bulk cargo from road to rail in the city, effectively lowering logistics costs for businesses in the hinterland, reducing carbon emissions and dust pollution from road transport, and providing solid railway logistics support for the high-quality development of Binzhou's aluminum industry and the economic and social development of the northern coastal area. Since the start of this year, the Municipal Transportation Investment Group has closely focused on the city's aluminum industry logistics needs and acted proactively with targeted efforts. First, it has stabilized the base volume by deepening coordination with various departments of China Railway Jinan Bureau, focusing on building a sustained and stable transport corridor for alumina. This year, alumina shipments into Xinjiang are expected to exceed 1 million tonnes, providing reliable capacity support for westward shipments of products from aluminum enterprises in the hinterland. Second, it has expanded cargo categories. On the basis of further stabilizing the "Yantai West Port Area to Binzhou" bauxite rail-sea intermodal corridor, it successfully completed a coal trial train arrival test in August this year, pushing freight categories from a single focus on alumina toward diversified parallel development, with the "outbound plus inbound" two-way logistics system becoming increasingly mature. Third, it has strengthened capacity support. By setting up a special task force for volume improvement and strictly implementing a 24-hour station duty system, it has optimized full-process management around loading and unloading safety and operational efficiency, including cargo handover, train arrival and departure, on-site loading and unloading, dispatch organization and emergency response, continuously improving cargo turnover efficiency and loading and unloading capacity, providing solid support for rising volumes. Standing at a new starting point, the Municipal Transportation Investment Group will build on the momentum and keep pushing forward. On one hand, it will further deepen exchanges and cooperation with China Railway Jinan Bureau and Urumqi Bureau, focusing on two-way efforts involving "alumina into Xinjiang and Xinjiang coal into Binzhou," striving to open a stable pendulum-style transport corridor featuring "heavy outbound and heavy return" as soon as possible. On the other hand, it will accelerate the progress of putting Zhanhua Station into operation to form a railway freight node layout linking north and south with Dongfenggang Station, fully covering railway transport demand in the city's northern coastal area, and striving to build a "bulk cargo storage, transport and distribution center for the northern Shandong region." With the continuous improvement of the freight system at the two stations of Bingang Railway, the Municipal Transportation Investment Group will continue to deepen transport structural adjustment, fully safeguard the city's energy supply, and inject strong momentum into the high-quality development of Binzhou's aluminum industry and economic and social construction through more high-quality and efficient railway logistics services.
