Bank Of Chongqing Co., Ltd. has released its semi-annual report, posting operating revenue of RMB 8.486 billion, a year-on-year increase of 10.79%. Net profit reached RMB 3.767 billion, climbing 10.97%, while net profit attributable to shareholders rose 10.29% to RMB 3.518 billion. Public data indicates that among 42 A-share listed banks, this institution is the sole one to have recorded revenue and net profit growth exceeding 10% for four consecutive quarters. The simultaneous improvement in scale, net interest margin, and asset quality stands as the central highlight of this report.
Regarding net interest income metrics, the bank's net interest margin was 1.46% as of the end of June 2026, up 7 basis points from the same period last year. This marks a counter-trend recovery against the prevailing market backdrop. During the 2026 interim results briefing, management attributed this performance to the cumulative benefits of asset-side structural optimization, with loan growth of 9.6% in the first half. This was complemented by a notable improvement in deposit costs, which fell by more than 40 basis points year-on-year. Looking ahead, the bank plans to intensify loan disbursement, refine its asset-liability structure, and further reduce liability costs, with expectations that the full-year net interest margin will sustain its year-on-year recovery trajectory.
On asset quality, the non-performing loan ratio stood at 1.11% at the end of June 2026, a decrease of 0.03 percentage points from the end of the prior year. The provision coverage ratio rose to 247.31%, an increase of 1.73 percentage points. In its interim report, the bank stated it is accelerating the development of a comprehensive risk management framework, strengthening credit risk controls, enhancing risk screening, early warning systems, and post-lending management, while intensifying risk resolution efforts. These measures, it said, continue to support an asset quality profile that remains among the better performers in the sector.
In terms of scale, total assets reached RMB 1.108909 trillion at the end of June 2026, up RMB 75.183 billion, or 7.27%, from the end of the previous year. Total liabilities amounted to RMB 1.038151 trillion, an increase of RMB 70.424 billion, or 7.28%. Customer loans and advances totaled RMB 582.459 billion, growing 9.63%, while customer deposits reached RMB 627.202 billion, up 10.87%.
Regarding deposit growth, the bank highlighted its focus on deepening retail operations across its "one city, three provinces" footprint, enhancing customer service levels, and consequently seeing continued increases in both the volume and proportion of personal deposits. On the lending side, the bank is actively aligning with municipal and provincial policies, participating in initiatives for the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle and the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, thereby boosting its capacity to serve the real economy and drive steady growth across core business lines.
From a structural perspective, corporate loans have grown at a relatively fast pace. By the end of June 2026, the principal amount of corporate loans stood at RMB 462.801 billion, an increase of RMB 52.933 billion from the start of the year. In an investor relations record from May 2026, the bank indicated that corporate lending is a key strategic focus for the year, aiming for both quality and volume expansion. It will leverage its local geographic strengths to precisely align with national and regional major strategies, enhancing financial support for key regional industries. Priority sectors include infrastructure, manufacturing, commercial services, and green finance.
In addressing the "five major financial articles" for the first half of 2026, the bank concentrated on advanced manufacturing and new quality productive forces, supporting Chongqing's "33618" modern manufacturing cluster system and the "416" science and technology innovation layout, while fostering integrated development between technological innovation and green industries. Simultaneously, efforts were directed toward inclusive finance and rural revitalization, addressing the financial service needs of small and micro enterprises, individual businesses, agricultural sectors, and new urban residents. Inclusive small and micro loan balances surpassed RMB 77 billion, while agriculture-related loans exceeded RMB 57 billion.
In consumer credit and pension finance, the bank leveraged its product portfolio, with rapid growth in its proprietary online consumer loan offerings. The "Jie e Dai" balance broke the RMB 10 billion mark by the end of June. On the digital transformation front, the bank has deployed the "Tongyi Qianwen" large language model, adding new applications such as the "Intelligent Compliance Assistant." Mobile sales operations have completed 1.409 million transactions. By reshaping business processes through digital technology, the bank is lowering service thresholds and improving internal operational efficiency, injecting technological momentum into the bank's high-quality development.
This interim report reveals that the bank's growth is closely aligned with regional strategies. Looking forward, the development of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle and the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor are expected to provide ample opportunities. Serving the real economy and practicing finance for the people will remain the defining features of its high-quality progress, contributing to Chongqing's ambition of becoming a key western financial hub.
