Semiconductor equipment stocks gained on Wednesday. Aehr Test soared nearly 10%; Applied Materials up over 8%; Lam Research, Amkor Technology, ASML up over 5%.
On the news front, Aehr Test Systems announced it received a follow-on production order for a fully automated FOX-XP wafer-level burn-in system from a major supplier to the data center optical transceiver market. The system, capable of testing nine wafers simultaneously and including a WaferPak Auto Aligner and FOX WaferPak Contactors, is expected to be delivered within the next six months.
Elon Musk previously appeared via video link at ASML's internal annual technology conference, elaborating on the Terafab super chip factory plan. The project involves a total investment potentially as high as $119 billion, targeting 2-nanometer advanced process nodes, requiring large-scale procurement of EUV lithography equipment and providing potential incremental orders for ASML's backlog.
