JD.com Delivers First Batch of Emergency Supplies Overnight to Support Hong Kong's Tai Po Fire Relief Efforts

On November 26, a severe five-alarm fire broke out at Hong Kong's Tai Po Hung Fuk Court, resulting in significant casualties. By November 27, JD.com announced that its first batch of emergency supplies had been delivered overnight to aid the disaster-stricken area.

Following the incident, with assistance from the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong, JD.com's subsidiary, Hong Kong Kaibo Supermarket, became the first company to deliver relief supplies to the scene. The company swiftly coordinated with local rural councils, activated emergency response mechanisms, and established a dedicated task force to allocate urgently needed supplies such as bottled water, sandwich biscuits, mochi, instant noodles, and other daily necessities.

On the morning of November 27, Kaibo Supermarket mobilized resources to provide over 500 hot meals for affected residents and rescue personnel. Further assistance will be provided based on on-site needs.

Concurrently, JD Logistics immediately implemented contingency plans and formed an emergency team. Leveraging its extensive warehousing network and integrated supply chain across the Greater Bay Area, JD Logistics expedited the dispatch of essential items—including bed sheets, thermal blankets, hygiene products, towels, instant noodles, bottled water, and self-heating hot pots—from its Hong Kong Warehouse No. 1 and Guangdong-based fulfillment centers. Dedicated JD Logistics personnel and vehicles ensured timely delivery of relief supplies.

JD.com emphasized that its Chairman, Liu Qiangdong, has mandated an internal policy: in the event of a disaster anywhere in the country, managers of nearby JD warehouses are authorized to donate necessary supplies without prior approval. Additionally, JD.com promptly establishes emergency support teams to guarantee dedicated transportation of relief materials.

Moving forward, JD.com will maintain close communication with relevant Hong Kong government departments and stand ready to provide further assistance as needed. Kaibo Supermarket will ensure all its stores remain fully stocked to meet the urgent needs of affected residents. "JD.com firmly believes that mutual aid and overcoming challenges together are integral to corporate social responsibility. We will continue monitoring the situation and stand united with Hong Kong," the company stated.
