iPhone 17 Pro Displays Enter Mass Production as iPhone 15 Prices Plummet to Record Lows

Apple's upcoming iPhone 17 Pro series has commenced mass production of its display components, signaling accelerated development timelines for the next-generation flagship. For years, Samsung Display and LG Display have dominated OLED panel supply for iPhones, with the former maintaining primary supplier status. While these Korean manufacturers continue to lead, Chinese display maker BOE Technology has gradually expanded its presence within Apple's supply ecosystem.

Industry sources indicate BOE first entered Apple's supply chain during late 2020, providing OLED panels for the standard iPhone 12 model. Despite reported challenges during iPhone 13 production cycles, the display manufacturer reportedly maintained supply allocations for the baseline iPhone 14 units. This ongoing collaboration suggests BOE could potentially secure orders for future non-Pro iPhone models.

Concurrently, significant price erosion has hit current-generation devices. The iPhone 15 now retails at unprecedented discounts through third-party retailers, with advertised prices plunging as low as 239 yuan - representing a staggering 95% reduction from its original launch pricing. This dramatic depreciation coincides with the approaching release cycle for iPhone 16 series devices.

Market analysts note such aggressive discounting typically accelerates during product transition periods. While Apple maintains strict pricing controls through its official channels, authorized resellers frequently implement deep inventory-clearing promotions ahead of new model launches. The current pricing anomaly appears limited to specific e-commerce promotions rather than reflecting broader market pricing trends.
