12月15日，欧洲芯片制造巨头意法半导体目前已向埃隆·马斯克的太空探索技术公司（SpaceX）交付了超过50 亿枚射频天线芯片，用于SpaceX的“星链（Starlink）”卫星网络。据意法半导体的一位高管透露，在接下来的两年里（到2027年），通过此次合作交付的芯片数量可能会翻倍。
意法半导体和SpaceX自2015年便展开合作，前者最新披露了其快速发展的太空合同的规模，并指出该合同已成为其专业芯片业务的一大推动力。
意法半导体微控制器和数字集成电路部门总裁Remi El-Ouazzane在采访中表示，“过去十年中，用户终端的使用量在数量上不断攀升，并有可能在未来两年内翻一番。”不过，他并未给出具体目标。
El-Ouazzane谈到用于“星链”用户终端的基于射频BiCMOS技术的天线芯片时指出，“我预计更多的低轨道卫星运营商将会利用这项技术。”
