As of August 24th this year, Inner Mongolia's first ultra-high voltage project (the Xilingol League to Shandong 1000kV ultra-high voltage AC transmission and transformation project) has transmitted over 100 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, reaching 101.1 billion kWh.

The project originates from Xilingol League in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and terminates in Jinan City, Shandong Province, passing through Hebei and Tianjin. The transmission lines span a total length of 2×730 kilometers, with 1,927 power transmission towers constructed along the route. The project operates at a rated voltage of 1000kV with a total dynamic investment of 178.2 billion yuan.

Construction began in November 2014, and the project officially commenced operations in July 2016. It was the first operational project among the "four AC and four DC" ultra-high voltage projects included in the National Air Pollution Prevention and Control Action Plan. The project represents several world and domestic firsts: it is the world's first project to utilize carbon fiber composite conductor technology and China's first project to employ 1100kV indoor gas insulated switchgear (GIS), transformers, and comprehensive seismic isolation technology for high-voltage reactors.

Since becoming operational, the project has significantly improved transmission efficiency, reduced losses, and optimized resource allocation. It saves 22.4 million tons of coal consumption annually and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 44 million tons, effectively improving environmental and air quality. The project also provides crucial energy infrastructure support for promoting intensive energy development in Xilingol League and facilitating Inner Mongolia's transformation from resource advantages to economic advantages.
