The 2025 Sustainable Global Leaders Conference was held from October 16 to 18 at the Expo Park in Huangpu District, Shanghai. Jane Ambachtsheer, the Global Head of Sustainable Investment at BNP Paribas Asset Management, participated in a dialogue with Sina Finance.

When discussing the unique opportunities and challenges that China faces in its ESG development path compared to Europe and the U.S., Ambachtsheer noted, "I believe the biggest opportunity lies in the rapid growth of renewable energy. We know that last year, China added more solar capacity and electric vehicles (EVs) than the total added by the rest of the world combined. This represents a tremendous opportunity, and we are very pleased to be part of it."

She mentioned, "The current information disclosure system is still evolving, with new disclosure requirements emerging constantly. The lack of data uniformity may lead to investor concerns and even expose certain companies to 'greenwashing' risks. Therefore, we must guide financial institutions to remain vigilant and ensure the accuracy and consistency of disclosed information. Overall, China has made significant progress in ESG development, but I believe there is still ample room for improvement in the investment disclosure framework in the future."
