Defense Giants Lockheed Martin and RTX to Convene at White House as Ammunition Reserves Dwindle

Top defense contractors including Lockheed Martin and RTX will attend a meeting at the White House as the Pentagon pushes for accelerated weapons production amid escalating conflict with Iran.

A White House official confirmed the Friday meeting with defense industry executives.

President Trump and the Pentagon have long pressured major U.S. defense contractors to increase output, criticizing their focus on shareholder returns through stock buybacks and dividends rather than research and development. As the conflict with Iran enters its fifth day with neither side showing signs of backing down, inventories of America's most expensive weapons are being rapidly depleted.

Trump addressed the matter earlier this week in a social media post, stating that the United States possesses "almost unlimited supplies" of what he described as "mid-range and upper-mid-range" weapons and ammunition.

"At the very high end, our supplies are good but not yet at the level we want," he said.

Michael Duffey, Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment, responded to congressional inquiries during a House Armed Services Committee hearing on Wednesday, including questions about whether ammunition stockpiles had been analyzed before launching strikes against Iran.

"I have great confidence in General Caine's professional military judgment," Duffey said, referring to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine, who has stated that the U.S. maintains sufficient ammunition supplies.
