Its comprehensive portfolio includes knee and hip replacement implants, as well as products for sports medicine, extremities, and trauma surgeries. The company has been actively expanding into robotic-assisted surgery and digital health solutions.

The recently reported first-quarter results showed net sales of $2.087 billion, a 9.3% year-over-year increase. Adjusted earnings per share came in at $2.09, rising 15.5%, with both metrics exceeding market expectations. U.S. sales reached $1.209 billion, up 8.6%, while international sales were $877 million, a 10.3% increase.

By business segment, the Sports Medicine, Extremities, and Trauma products performed exceptionally well, generating $562 million in revenue, a 17.4% increase. Revenue from Technology & Data, Bone Cement, and Other Surgical products grew 11.7% to $172 million. The Knee and Hip businesses saw growth of 1.8% and 3.2%, respectively.

Driven by this strong start, the company has raised its full-year 2026 adjusted earnings per share guidance to a range of $8.40 to $8.55. The free cash flow growth forecast has also been increased. Additionally, the company completed a $250 million share repurchase during the first quarter.

It is noteworthy that the company recently received expanded U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for its shoulder replacement system, adding new implant sizes and surgical instrumentation for smaller patients. Furthermore, Zimmer Biomet has completed patient enrollment for the clinical study of its mBôs robotic system in India, marking the first robot capable of autonomous total knee replacement surgery. This development represents a new potential growth catalyst.

Headquartered in Warsaw, Indiana, Zimmer Biomet operates approximately 25 manufacturing sites globally. Earlier this year, the company was named one of America's Most Innovative Companies for 2026 by Fortune magazine and was recognized for the second consecutive year on the Ethisphere Institute's World's Most Ethical Companies list.
