Former US President Donald Trump declared via social media that Indonesia will acquire 50 Boeing aircraft as part of a broader trade agreement. Trump indicated the order includes multiple Boeing 777 jets but didn't identify the buyer.
Boeing's official website shows Indonesian flag carrier Garuda Indonesia still maintains orders for 49 Boeing 737 Max jets. The aircraft manufacturer declined to comment on Trump's statement, redirecting all inquiries to Garuda Indonesia.
Garuda Indonesia's CEO Wamildan Tsani Panjaitan previously confirmed negotiations for 50-75 Boeing aircraft, including both 737 Max and 787-9 Dreamliner models. The potential deal aligns with the airline's fleet modernization plans amid the aviation industry's post-pandemic recovery phase.
