AIA Delivers Double-Digit Earnings and Cash Growth in 1H 2026

AIA reported solid first-half 2026 results, driven by broad-based demand across Asia and disciplined cost and capital management.

\n\nKey Financials • Value of New Business (VONB) advanced to USD 3.21 billion, a 10 % increase year on year, with margin steady at 57.1 %. • Operating Profit After Tax (OPAT) reached USD 4.16 billion; OPAT per share climbed 13 %. Annualised operating ROE rose to 17.5 %. • Underlying Free Surplus Generation grew 10 % per share to USD 3.94 billion, supporting total shareholder returns of USD 3.60 billion through dividends and buy-backs. • Embedded Value (EV) Equity stood at USD 83.40 billion, up 6 % per share since December 2025; operating ROEV hit 18.0 %. • Net Free Surplus Generation improved 12 % per share to USD 2.76 billion.

\n\nRegional Performance • Chinese Mainland led growth with VONB up 20 % to USD 937 million. • Hong Kong delivered USD 1.17 billion VONB, a 10 % rise, with margin expanding to 72.0 %. • Thailand’s VONB slipped 6 % versus an exceptionally strong prior-year base; margin remained high at 96.9 %. • Singapore and Malaysia each posted 10 % VONB growth; Other Markets added 7 %.

\n\nDistribution Highlights • Premier Agency contributed 72 % of Group VONB, expanding 6 % overall and 11 % excluding Thailand. • Partnership distribution VONB increased 18 %, fuelled by bancassurance and IFA channels.

\n\nCapital and Dividend • Shareholder capital ratio remained robust at 210 % after returning USD 3.65 billion to investors. • Interim dividend lifted 10 % to HKD 0.539 per share.

\n\nOutlook Management reiterated confidence in exceeding the 2023-2026 OPAT per-share compound annual growth target of 9-11 %, citing resilient demand for protection and long-term savings across Asia and continued execution of its distribution-led strategy.
