It is precisely this full-chain supporting demand of the beef noodle industry that Yongdeng County, located in Lanzhou, Gansu Province, has targeted. Anchored by Lanzhou's ambitious 100-billion-yuan beef noodle industry, the county has established a "1+5" urban modern agriculture system, concentrating on the development of five key industries: meat, grain, potato, vegetables, and flowers. This strategy aims to create a closed-loop, deeply integrated development of primary, secondary, and tertiary industries, empowering rural vitalization and increasing farmers' incomes.
At a recent press conference on "High-Quality County Economic Development" held in Lanzhou on August 20th, data revealed that in 2025, Yongdeng County's primary industry added value reached 1.63 billion yuan, a growth rate of 6.1%. Concurrently, the per capita disposable income of rural residents hit 18,712.17 yuan, up 6.8%. Both of these growth rates ranked first in the entire city. Behind these impressive figures lies the practical implementation of the "1+5" urban modern agriculture system, driven by the Lanzhou beef noodle industry.
In recent years, leveraging its unique cool, highland resource advantages, Yongdeng County has firmly pursued the "1+5" development path, which combines the beef noodle industry with the meat, grain, potato, vegetable, and flower sectors. The strategy emphasizes building a solid foundation through production bases, extending the industrial chain through processing, adding value through cultural tourism, and enriching farmers through collaborative models. This comprehensive approach aims to create a full-industry-chain development pattern.
Within the Shuping Zhongchuang City Food Industrial Park, the production lines of the beef noodle "super factory" are operating at high speed. As the core "1" in the "1+5" system, the beef noodle industry is playing a powerful leading role. "We have precisely planned the special planting and breeding sectors, establishing core production areas covering 101,600 mu of Kuxiu roses and 223,700 mu of highland summer vegetables. This is complemented by a 10,000-mu wheat industrial belt and a 10,000-mu rapeseed base, specifically dedicated to meeting the raw material needs of the beef noodle industry," stated Tang Xuesheng, Director of the Yongdeng County Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau. He explained that through an order agriculture model, they ensure precise alignment between processing enterprises and product supply bases, stably supplying the beef noodle super factory with 3,000 tons of beef and tens of thousands of tons of high-quality highland summer vegetables annually, thereby guaranteeing a stable supply and excellent quality from the source.
The driving force of this "1" is now promoting the coordinated development of the "5" distinctive industries. In Kuxiu Town, the 10,000-mu rose sea has become a tourist attraction and, through deep processing, is transformed into high-value-added products like rose jam and rose essential oil. In Qishan Township, the breeding volume of "Yongdeng Qishan Goats" has exceeded 870,000 heads. With the help of germplasm gene sequencing and prepared-food development, its industrial chain is continuously extending. In Tongyuan Town, a 10,000-mu potato seed breeding base provides a crucial germplasm source for the highland summer vegetable industry.
"Relying on the agglomeration advantages of the Shuping Zhongchuang City Food Industrial Park, we have established the beef noodle super factory. We are simultaneously advancing projects like the provincial-level Kuxiu Rose Industrial Park and the highland summer vegetable superior characteristic industry cluster, forming a gradient layout of primary and deep processing of agricultural products," said Tang. Currently, the county has nurtured 73 leading agricultural industrialization enterprises, 195 model cooperatives, and 89 model family farms. Covering grains, oils, vegetables, roses, and mutton, they have built standardized planting and breeding bases exceeding 500,000 mu. The county offers over 200 types of agricultural products, employs more than 10,000 people in the industry, and drives income growth for over 49,000 households. Nearly 60% of the county's agricultural products enter the market through new business entities, effectively solving the previous pain points of selling only raw materials and low added value.
While extending the industrial chain, technological empowerment has become the key to improving quality and efficiency in Yongdeng's agriculture. The county has strengthened its collaboration with Lanzhou University and Gansu Agricultural University, focusing on the "One Park, Five Institutes" platform for agricultural technology transfer and transformation. Deep industry-university-research cooperation is being carried out, with key research projects tackling the development of new products from deep-processed Kuxiu roses, germplasm gene sequencing of Qishan goats, and fresh-keeping and deep-processing technologies for highland summer vegetables.
"We have introduced Chongqing Qingzhou Liwan Green Technology Co., Ltd., which has invested 1.02 billion yuan to build a 620-mu 'Qinglv Zhinong' new-quality agricultural industrial park. This initiative uses smart and modern methods to empower the transformation and upgrading of traditional agriculture," Tang added. Through these joint efforts, high-value-added products such as rose health products, mutton prepared dishes, and freeze-dried vegetables have been developed, effectively converting scientific and technological achievements into tangible industrial benefits.
The integration of agriculture, culture, and tourism has added wings to Yongdeng's agricultural development. Leveraging its national reputation as a key county for leisure agriculture, Yongdeng has focused on rural revitalization demonstration belts like "Shuirun Meixiang" and "Shuimo Danxia." By creating agricultural, cultural, and tourism integration demonstration zones and launching souvenir products like rose jam, mushroom crisps, and Dingwa pancakes, the county is seamlessly integrating field cultivation, workshop processing, rural tourism, and online consumption, promoting mutual progress across the three industries.
"We continue to promote the certification and cultivation of 'Three Products, One Standard' and 'Ganwei' specialty agricultural products, and regulate the management of our existing 3 geographical indications, the 'Ganwei' regional public brand, and 15 'Ganwei' enterprise trademark brands," said Tang. By coordinating online and offline efforts, they have established a regular production-marketing connection platform at the Shuping Zhongchuang City Food Industrial Park, organizing enterprises to participate in provincial and national agricultural expos and rural tourism promotional activities. Online, they support leading enterprises and cooperatives in setting up e-commerce live-streaming rooms, using short videos and live commerce to open direct retail channels. This has constructed a three-dimensional sales network of "bulk orders + offline exhibitions + online retail," continuously enhancing the national visibility and market share of Yongdeng's specialty agricultural products.
