On February 9, Xiaomi's Legal Department provided an update on its initiative to collect information for assisting owners subjected to online attacks. As of February 9, a total of 2,189 individuals have submitted relevant evidence. The department has successfully helped 51 vehicle owners file cases in court.
Concurrently, recent attention has been drawn to multiple incidents involving Xiaomi vehicle owners facing offline malicious vandalism. Specifically, three owners' vehicles were intentionally damaged in public areas. Following these events, Xiaomi's Legal Department promptly responded to the owners' requests by dispatching professional lawyers to offer legal aid and assisting in coordinating with public security authorities to launch investigations.
Due to the efficient handling by the police, the individuals responsible for the first two incidents have been successfully apprehended. They have received penalties including multiple days of detention and fines, and have compensated the owners for their financial losses. Another incident involving vehicle scratching was resolved through negotiation, resulting in a settlement where the owners' losses were fully recovered.
Xiaomi's Legal Department emphasized that the internet is not a space beyond the law, and offline actions must also adhere to legal boundaries. Both speech and conduct have their limits.
