German Chancellor Reaffirms Opposition to Joint Eurobond Issuance

German Chancellor reiterated his stance against joint European debt issuance on Thursday, following a meeting of EU leaders who agreed to work toward improving the functioning of the EU single market.
"I made it very clear this morning that, although there may be differing opinions, I will not support the idea of eurobonds," he stated during a post-meeting press briefing, adding that Germany's constitutional court has also imposed strict limitations on the actions the German government can take.
