According to Zhitong Finance APP, BOCOM INTL released a research report stating that the National Standards Committee recently published draft proposals for three mandatory national standards including "Energy Consumption Limits per Unit Product for Polysilicon and Germanium," imposing stricter requirements on polysilicon energy consumption standards. The energy consumption standards are divided into a three-tier system, with the new regulations being further tightened compared to the standards proposed at the industry conference in July. The firm noted that after the new regulations are implemented, companies failing to meet the third-tier standards must rectify within a specified period. Those that fail to make corrections within the deadline or fail to reach the second-tier standards after rectification will be forced to shut down. It is expected that after the implementation of the new regulations, domestic effective polysilicon capacity will significantly decrease from the current 3.5 million tons to approximately 2.4 million tons, a reduction of 31.4%, demonstrating the government's determination to eliminate backward capacity and promote "anti-involution" in the photovoltaic industry through raising technical standards. BOCOM INTL expects that granular silicon production technology companies with the lowest energy consumption will benefit, listing GCL TECH as a preferred stock.
