Major Shareholder Increases Stake in China Hongqiao, Signaling Confidence

China Hongqiao Group Limited (01378) has announced that its board of directors was notified that the company's controlling shareholder, Shandong Hongqiao Aluminum Industry Holding Company Limited, purchased a total of 21 million company shares from the open market on June 8, 2026.

The shares were acquired at an average price of approximately HK$26.4641 per share, representing about 0.21% of the company's total issued share capital as of the announcement date.

Prior to this share purchase, the controlling shareholder held approximately 6.098 billion shares, equivalent to about 62.10% of the issued share capital. Following the acquisition, its holding increased to approximately 6.119 billion shares, representing about 62.31% of the total issued shares.

In accordance with a relevant public float waiver granted to the company, the required public float is 15.04%. Based on publicly available information and to the knowledge of the directors, the company continues to meet the public float requirement after the share purchase.

The controlling shareholder stated that it believes the company's current share price deviates from its intrinsic value. It does not rule out the possibility of further increasing its stake in the company at an appropriate time in the future, subject to compliance with applicable laws and regulatory provisions.

This share acquisition reflects the controlling shareholder's confidence in the group's future prospects and long-term development.
