Five agricultural products from Jiaxing have been newly added to the national list of specialty and premium products, as announced in the second batch of the 2026 National Famous, Special, Premium, and New Agricultural Products Directory by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs' Quality and Safety Center. The selected items are Xinfeng Ginger, Honghe Pear, Haiyan Tongyuan Lake Sheep Mutton, Haiyan Paddy Field Crayfish, and Pinghu Red-Claw Ginger.

In Xinfeng Town, Nanhu District, a fresh ginger undergoes a lengthy journey from the field to store shelves. During a recent visit to the production facility of "Jiang Zhong Huang," a brand under the Xinfeng Ginger Development Company, no pungent spice was detected; instead, the air was filled with a fresh, earthy sweetness. From washing, pickling, desalting, dehydrating, filling, sterilizing, to sealing, each batch of fresh Xinfeng ginger passes through 32 meticulous steps from acquisition to storage.

Xinfeng ginger boasts a cultivation history of more than 600 years, serving as a locally renowned geographical indication product and the leading agricultural industry in Xinfeng Town. The town currently supports nearly 9,000 mu of ginger cultivation, involving over 1,800 grower households, with production volumes among the highest in the province.

Honghe Pear, a unique early-ripening variety from Honghe Town, Xiuzhou District, is affectionately nicknamed "June Snow." With more than 3,000 mu under cultivation, it received the national geographical indication certification trademark in 2020.

Haiyan Tongyuan has a sheep-raising tradition spanning over 800 years, producing tender meat with low fat and minimal gamey flavor. Haiyan Fengyi Animal Husbandry Co., Ltd., located in Fengyi Village, maintains a standing herd of over 5,000 head and has developed the "Rongxue'er" trademark, recognized as a well-known brand in Jiaxing.

Haiyan paddy field crayfish represents the province's pioneering model of integrated rice-crayfish farming, utilizing water and fields for dual purposes. Haiyan currently ranks second in the province for this farming scale, employing more than 12,000 workers.

Pinghu Red-Claw Ginger, also known as Lotus Ginger, is a traditional specialty of Pinghu City and has long been the preferred ingredient for Yangzhou pickles. The "Red Claw" brand ginger earned the title of quality agricultural product twice at the Zhejiang Provincial Agricultural Expo in 2001 and 2002.

This achievement follows the earlier inclusion of eight Jiaxing products, such as Jiaxing Zongzi, Jiashan Strawberry, and Haiyan Huangshawan Citrus, in the first batch of the year. A representative from the Jiaxing Agricultural and Rural Bureau noted that this marks another milestone in the city's cultivation of specialty and premium agricultural goods. Moving forward, Jiaxing will leverage these products as a catalyst to accelerate the transition from high-quality cultivation to effective marketing and strong brand recognition, enabling more local delicacies to reach national markets.
