As temperatures continue to rise, the snow and ice in Xinjiang's Hejing County Bayinbuluke grassland, located deep within the Tianshan Mountains, have begun to melt. The annual spring livestock migration has commenced on schedule, with herds of animals making their way along pastoral routes toward spring pastures. In recent days, in the valley of Saihantao Village in Bayinbuluke Town, Hejing County, herder Bayir and his family took advantage of favorable weather following rain and snow. They set out on horseback, driving their sheep toward the spring pastures in Baxilige Village. During the migration, the sounds of cattle and sheep, along with the calls of the herders, echoed through the valley, bringing vitality to the quiet depths of the Tianshan Mountains. "We started from the Hargattingol winter pasture and are heading to the Baxilige spring pasture, a journey of over 100 kilometers," said herder Bayir from Baxilige Village. "Three of us, with two vehicles, are herding more than 500 sheep, over 100 yaks, and around 50 horses. The snow on the road is about 30 centimeters deep, and the road conditions are poor. We expect it will take another three days to arrive." This year's spring livestock migration in Hejing County has fully begun. Authorities have closely adhered to the principles of "ecology first, safety first," ensuring detailed implementation of various support measures. Shandan Surong, deputy director of the Hejing County Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau, stated that the county has completed inspections and repairs of 12 main pastoral routes in advance. Special personnel have been assigned to key sections, and transport vehicles and emergency rescue equipment have been deployed to assist herders, effectively addressing transportation challenges during the migration. It is reported that a total of 760,000 livestock are participating in this migration.
