The blockbuster sequel "Zootopia 2" continues its phenomenal run, with box office records shattered and multiple listed companies addressing their collaborations.
Seven days after its release, "Zootopia 2" remains unstoppable, breaking multiple box office milestones. According to industry data, the film has grossed 2.072 billion yuan ($290 million) so far, with a single-day peak of 738 million yuan ($103 million). It has surpassed 60 records, including the highest-grossing imported animated film in Chinese cinema history and the top performer during the 2025 holiday season. Projections suggest its total earnings could exceed 4.2 billion yuan ($588 million), potentially crowning it as the highest-grossing imported film.
Beyond the box office frenzy, licensed merchandise tied to "Zootopia 2" is flying off shelves. Companies like Miniso, Pop Mart, Luckin Coffee, and 52TOYS have launched co-branded products. Pop Mart’s "Reunion Series" collaboration sold out on its official mini-program and offline stores, while Luckin Coffee’s limited-edition items neared sell-out within three days, prompting urgent restocking.
The film’s success has also buoyed the stock market, with the entertainment sector seeing notable gains. China Film, the movie’s distributor, surged by the daily limit for two consecutive days, climbing 15.78% over three sessions. Other players like Happiness Blue Ocean and Huayi Brothers rose 6.44% and 5.86%, respectively.
