Qingdao Port's North Africa Breakbulk Exports Surge Over 200% in First Five Months

At the breakbulk terminal of the Dagang Port Area within Shandong Ports' Qingdao Port, loaders, excavators, and dump trucks are being systematically loaded. They are set to depart aboard the vessel 'Yuanxing Rizhao' for a North African nation, destined for major local infrastructure projects.

As Chinese enterprises deepen their involvement in North African infrastructure development, the demand for exporting Chinese-made equipment continues to surge. Seizing this development opportunity, Qingdao Port has been consistently optimizing its North Africa route network and enhancing logistics service efficiency.

In the first five months of this year, export volumes on Qingdao Port's North Africa breakbulk routes exceeded 210,000 tons, representing a year-on-year increase of over 200%. This growth injects robust momentum into economic and trade exchanges between China and Africa.

To further cultivate the North African market this year, Qingdao Port has proactively coordinated with major shipping lines. It has scientifically optimized port call schedules, implemented standardized fixed-schedule operations, and established priority mechanisms for vessel berthing and cargo handling.

Compared to traditional transportation models, the North Africa breakbulk routes have reduced voyage durations by 2 to 3 days and improved transport efficiency by 5%, significantly compressing the logistics and time costs for exporting Chinese manufactured equipment.

Furthermore, Qingdao Port has deepened the coordinated 'port-shipper-cargo' linkage mechanism. It established specialized task forces for route development to holistically advance route network optimization and precise cargo sourcing. This year, the number of vessel sailings on North Africa breakbulk routes increased by 9 compared to the same period last year, with an additional 140,000 tons of new cargo, indicating a continuous upgrade in logistics service capacity.

Opening a single route can invigorate a market and connect a region to the world. Shandong Ports' Qingdao Port will continue to optimize its route network, innovate operational models, and elevate service capabilities. This will aid the deeper integration of 'Made in China' into the global industrial and supply chains, contributing greater strength to the high-quality co-construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.
