CHERY AUTO's Wang Lang: A Truly Great Product is Valued by Users Years Later, Not Just at Launch

The 4th Future Automotive Pioneers Conference 2026 was held in Shenzhen from May 29 to 30. Wang Lang, Vice President of CHERY AUTO, attended and delivered a speech.

Wang Lang acknowledged that while the current Chinese automotive market offers a rich variety of models with impressive specifications, it also faces significant challenges such as severe homogenization and pressure on corporate profitability. He emphasized that intense competition itself is not the primary concern; the real danger lies in remaining entrenched in low-level competition. Focusing solely on undercutting prices and competing on specifications could erode brand trust and squeeze research and development investment. Therefore, the key to breaking the deadlock is to elevate the level of competition, shifting from leading in scale to leading in value.

Wang Lang proposed that future Chinese automotive brands must be built on "Four Pillars of Trustworthiness": quality trustworthiness that withstands long-term testing, technology trustworthiness that returns to genuine user experience, service trustworthiness that is globally accessible and convenient, and value trustworthiness that considers user assets and industry chain interests.

He stressed that for Chinese automobiles to truly go global, they must evolve from merely exporting products to exporting brands, services, ecosystems, and a sense of responsibility, thereby establishing the long-term credibility of Chinese brands worldwide.

Finally, Wang Lang issued three calls to the industry: First, shift from competing on price to competing on value, focusing competition on safety, quality, and global service capabilities. Second, move from competing on specifications to competing on genuine user experience. While configurations can be quickly replicated, actual experience requires long-term accumulation. A truly excellent product in the future will not be the one that is first at the launch event, but the one that users still find highly valuable three to five years later. Third, transition from individual corporate breakthroughs to collective advancement for Chinese automobiles. In the global market, the industry should jointly uphold the quality reputation and brand dignity of Chinese vehicles, achieving a comprehensive leap from exporting scale to exporting value, trust, and responsibility.
