"Receiving this award was unexpected and very encouraging. I hope to motivate more fellow riders to do more good deeds within their capabilities," said Meng Shixiang, a rider honored recently at Meituan's Spring Festival gathering in Zhengzhou. Alongside Liu Yang, Zhao Sanhao, and others, Meng received a "New Year surprise"—a new electric scooter provided by the platform. Meng, originally from Xiayi County, Henan, delivers in Beijing to cover his child's medical expenses. In June 2025, he bravely rescued a female cyclist in Beijing who was being maliciously chased and blocked by a vehicle. His actions earned recognition from both the platform and police, and he was awarded the title "Beijing Role Model." "I am just an ordinary delivery rider. The platform's acknowledgment and encouragement from all sectors make me more determined to pass on this kindness and warmth," Meng stated.
According to Meituan, ahead of this year's Spring Festival, guided by local social work departments, market supervision bureaus, trade unions, and youth leagues, the company organized over 5,000 rider celebrations and more than 500 reunion dinners in nearly 200 cities nationwide, including Chongqing, Qingdao, Wuhan, and Shenzhen. A special incentive fund exceeding one million yuan was established to reward 310 riders who demonstrated "courageous actions" or "good deeds" in 2025. Starting February 10, each eligible rider can claim a New Year appreciation package valued at approximately 5,000 yuan via the Meituan Rider App, including an electric scooter voucher (redeemable in the app's mall), cash, and family care benefits.
"More and more riders are becoming ambassadors of urban image and contributors to social governance," stated a Meituan executive responsible for rider rights protection. The platform has established two long-term reward initiatives: the "Good Deeds" and "Courageous Actions" programs. Moving forward, Meituan will continue to offer professional training in areas like fire safety and first aid, while enriching its multi-tiered welfare system, empowering riders to act with confidence and create greater social value in their roles.
At the award ceremony in Chongqing, rider Zhou Yunchuan expressed, "The platform's protections are increasingly comprehensive. Delivering now feels secure, and I hope to contribute my share to community governance." Zhou, a party member rider, proactively helped Chenjiaqiao Hospital become a "friendly hospital," establishing green channels for riders and organizing free medical consultations. He also encouraged riders to report environmental issues via "snap-and-share" initiatives.
Many riders like Zhou demonstrate similar热心 and goodwill. In Zhengzhou, Henan, 41 Meituan riders collectively lifted a collapsed fence frame with their shoulders and hands to rescue a trapped woman. In Dongguan, rider Li Mengjun encountered someone falling into water during a delivery; disregarding personal safety, he jumped into the rushing river to save the individual. In Kunming, rider Li Yong transported an injured person to the hospital in the rain. In Chengdu, rider Dong Ming敏锐 detected an anomalous order and intercepted 160,000 yuan in cash. In Guangxi's Dongxing, rider Liao Zenglin identified a fire hazard at a roadside electrical box and reported it promptly, leading to the fire being extinguished. These repeated acts of bravery are supported by the platform's ongoing development of a positive incentive and capacity-building system.
In 2021, Meituan initiated a special fund to recognize riders performing good deeds. By 2025, it formally launched the long-term "Good Deeds Reward Plan" and "Courageous Actions Reward Plan," specifically honoring "pioneer riders" who help others courageously and demonstrate social responsibility. The maximum award is 100,000 yuan, with additional incentives for major incidents officially recognized. Furthermore, benefits such as rental subsidies, vocational training, and family health care are prioritized for these riders. As of the end of December 2025, over a thousand riders have been recognized, with the platform distributing incentives totaling over ten million yuan in cash and gifts.
On February 3, at Meituan's Spring Festival recognition event in Hangzhou, several riders who performed courageous acts were honored, including Li Hongshuang. In November 2025, while picking up an order at a milk tea shop, he found a young man unconscious on the floor. Li stepped forward, performing CPR under the guidance of a 120 dispatcher, buying critical time for the emergency team and successfully saving the young man's life. He received a 2,000-yuan "Good Deeds" incentive from the platform.
According to a Meituan site manager in Hangzhou, the platform consistently encourages riders to practice "mobile kindness" during their deliveries, urging them to proactively identify and report community safety hazards or damaged public facilities. It also actively collaborates with communities, property managers, and other stakeholders to establish "rider-friendly communities" and "friendly commercial districts," addressing delivery challenges and fostering positive interactions among riders, communities, and the commercial ecosystem. By the end of December 2025, Meituan had established over 45,000 rider-friendly communities across 279 cities, partnering with 39 property and equipment firms and 13 local government departments on access solutions. This initiative monthly benefits over 729,000 riders, with approximately 70% achieving access within 10 seconds, significantly enhancing delivery efficiency and experience.
To ensure riders not only "dare to act" but also "know how to act" and "act professionally" in critical moments, under the guidance of local social work departments and trade unions, Meituan actively promotes rider participation in grassroots governance. It collaborates with professional emergency response and medical rescue organizations to provide regular safety and skill training for millions of riders nationwide. In 2025, supervised by emergency and fire departments across regions, Meituan conducted fire drills, emergency rescue training, gas leak response sessions, and AED practical exercises for riders nationwide, cumulatively covering five million participations.
Leveraging fire safety skills acquired through platform training, riders in multiple cities have acted as "first emergency responders," demonstrating textbook-level interventions. In April 2025, a residential building in Qingyang District, Chengdu, caught fire; Meituan rider Ma Baishou used a fire extinguisher to break a window and extinguish the blaze, preventing its spread. In November 2025, Beijing rider Chen Wenlin detected a gas leak during a delivery, quickly evacuated residents, and reported the incident, assisting fire departments in neutralizing the danger. The following month, Ningbo rider Lin Zhen encountered an electric scooter on fire and promptly used an extinguisher to put it out. In Nanning, Guangxi, rider Li Jichong, while delivering, noticed an electric scooter smoking and ablaze; he rushed into a subway station to borrow a fire extinguisher and successfully doused the flames.
On February 5, at the Spring Festival gathering in Wuhan's Rider Home, Hubei rider Si Zhaotian, with eight years of experience, was honored. In August 2025, applying professional medical knowledge from platform training, he used carried first-aid equipment to perform CPR on an unconscious traffic accident victim within the "golden four minutes," successfully reviving the individual. Si has long actively engaged in community governance and volunteering, repeatedly intervening in fires and rescues, and consistently assisting people with disabilities and the elderly for over a decade. Upon learning he won an electric scooter, Si said, "I want to give it to a disabled fellow rider at our site whose scooter is quite old. A new one will help him deliver better." Upon learning this, the rider rights保障 executive stated the platform would fund an additional scooter, enabling both Si and his partner to "upgrade their rides promptly in the Year of the Horse."
The confidence for riders to act calmly stems fundamentally from a continuously strengthened multi-tiered welfare network. Recently, Meituan announced an upgrade to its "Rider Critical Illness Care Plan" effective February 10, offering free supplementary住院 medical insurance for stable riders and their family members (parents, spouses, children). This is the industry's first住院 protection plan covering all rider types and their primary family members. Data shows the critical illness care project has assisted riders and their families 7,570 times, disbursing over 210 million yuan in care funds, with a single maximum payout of 200,000 yuan, 70% of which supported riders' families. During the New Year reunion dinners, riders in Zhengzhou, Wuhan, Ningbo, and elsewhere shared receiving their first social security subsidies for 2026. Rider Homes officially opened in cities like Shenzhen, Tongren, Liaocheng, and Altay, with facilities like rider apartments and rest stations increasingly完善,初步 establishing a social security system for millions of riders nationwide.
"The thousands of pioneer riders honored this Spring Festival and previously recognized by the platform are everyday heroes in our cities. They exemplify the spirit of dedication, professionalism, and virtue among workers in the new era. The platform's support is modest in comparison," a Meituan representative commented. The company will continue exploring and refining its model based on "basic保障 + advanced保障 + lifestyle benefits," striving to reduce riders' worries, enhancing their sense of security, achievement, and belonging in work and life.
