The import and export value of agricultural products between China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Vietnam reached 182.3 billion yuan in 2025. Imports accounted for 120.9 billion yuan, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 10.8%, with multiple breakthroughs achieved in smart agriculture collaboration. From 2022 to 2025, the average annual growth rate of agricultural trade between Guangxi and Vietnam was 15.2%. Fruit trade remains a key focus of cooperation, with Guangxi serving as a major channel and distribution hub for Vietnamese fruit entering China and for Chinese fruit accessing ASEAN markets.
Guangxi's primary agricultural exports to Vietnam include fresh or chilled garlic, fresh or chilled onions, hybrid citrus, fresh melons, potatoes, and aquatic products. Major agricultural imports from Vietnam consist of fresh durian, lobster, cassava starch, and fishmeal for feed. In recent years, cooperation resilience in the agricultural industry chain has been strengthened through initiatives such as the Vietnam-China (Guangxi) Agricultural Cooperation Demonstration Zone in Bac Giang Province, Vietnam, and the establishment of agricultural opening-up cooperation pilot zones in Pingxiang City, Dongxing City, and Baise City within Guangxi.
Notably, in the field of smart agriculture, Guangxi's Yangxiang Group implemented Vietnam's first fully digitalized, end-to-end pig farming project. Related intelligent technologies from Jiejiarun Technology Group have been scaled up in Vietnamese orchards, increasing the yield of premium fruits by approximately 30%. Guangxi Liuluo Ecological Agriculture Technology Co., Ltd. has promoted a shift in Vietnamese mushroom cultivation from reliance on traditional experience to data-driven methods.
Additionally, Guangxi initiated the construction of the China (Guangxi)-Vietnam Smart Fisheries Cooperation Zone in Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam, contributing to the launch of the first smart deep-water cage in Ha Long Bay. Relevant officials from the Guangxi Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs stated that in 2026, Guangxi will intensify efforts to cultivate high-quality entities for international agricultural trade, support companies in building overseas warehouses for agricultural products, broaden channels for agricultural trade cooperation, accelerate the development of a smart agriculture demonstration zone oriented towards ASEAN, support local high-tech agricultural enterprises in deploying projects in Vietnam, and deepen the mechanism for regular meetings between agricultural department heads from Guangxi and the four bordering Vietnamese provinces to facilitate policy discussion, experience exchange, and project matching, thereby advancing Guangxi-Vietnam agricultural cooperation to a higher quality level.
