HSBC Holdings Trims Share Count by 6.92 Million Shares After HK$1.11 Billion Buyback

HSBC Holdings plc disclosed on 7 October 2026 that it has cancelled a total of 6.92 million ordinary shares repurchased on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange between 11 and 28 September 2026 and subsequently cancelled on 6 October 2026.

The cancellations reduced the company’s issued share capital to 17.14 billion ordinary shares of US$0.50 each, down from 17.14 billion previously, representing a 0.04% contraction in the share base.

Across 12 on-market transactions, the bank paid an aggregate HK$1.11 billion for the repurchases. The volume-weighted average repurchase price was approximately HK$159.70 per share, with individual prices ranging from HK$156.78 to HK$164.02.

HSBC confirmed it holds no treasury shares following the cancellations, and there are no additional shares pending cancellation as at 6 October 2026.
