The competitive landscape of China's new energy vehicle market became quickly apparent at the start of the new year, with the gap between leading automakers widening further in the January sales rankings. According to data disclosed by some automakers and listed companies as of February 2, BYD Company Limited secured the top position in the industry with new energy vehicle sales exceeding 210,000 units, demonstrating an unshakable lead and establishing a significant margin over other major manufacturers.

As the industry enters a relatively stable phase of development, this performance further highlights BYD's comprehensive strength in technological accumulation, product portfolio, and market coverage. Since June 2021, BYD has not relinquished the monthly sales crown, maintaining its position as China's top-selling new energy vehicle brand for 56 consecutive months, a testament to its formidable market presence.

In mid-December last year, BYD became the first automaker globally to achieve the milestone of 15 million new energy vehicles produced. Cumulative new energy sales have now surpassed 15.3 million units. This massive sales volume underscores BYD's absolute dominance in the new energy market and the consistent trust of a broad consumer base.

It is noteworthy that as new energy vehicles account for over half of new car sales, the focus of market competition is shifting from pure volume growth to brand strength and global expansion. BYD's overseas new energy vehicle sales reached 100,482 units in January, representing a year-on-year increase of 43.4%. In recent years, BYD's international sales have continued to rise, maintaining leading positions in several key markets such as the UK, Germany, and Spain, thereby solidifying its leading status in the global new energy vehicle market.

Throughout 2025, BYD achieved annual sales of 4.6 million units, securing the "triple crown" as the top-selling automaker and brand in the Chinese automotive market, as well as the global leader in new energy vehicle sales. Furthermore, BYD became the first Chinese automaker to break into the top five in global vehicle sales rankings. As an industry leader, BYD has established an early lead at the beginning of 2026, setting the tone for the competitive dynamics of the new energy vehicle market for the full year.
