根据高盛对标普全球和Kpler船舶追踪数据的分析，周一穿越该海峡的油轮数量达到战前水平的20%。高盛估计，过去四天，油轮每日经海峡运输的石油量约为160万桶，仍远低于冲突前日均约2000万桶的水平。
霍尔木兹海峡是全球石油市场的关键咽喉要道，全球五分之一的石油和液化天然气供应需经过这条位于伊朗和阿曼之间的水道。
高盛提醒称，当前数据存在干扰。一些与伊朗相关的油轮仍在海峡航行，但为避免引起注意，这些船只关闭了应答器，导致追踪航运流量变得困难。
据劳氏日报情报部门分析，这些零星的油轮中包括所谓的"影子舰队"船舶。主流船东大多不愿冒险通过该海峡。
