美国联邦监管机构周三为比尔·盖茨支持的怀俄明州核电站项目亮起绿灯。
美国核管理委员会（NRC）宣布，已批准泰拉能源公司凯默勒一号发电站的建造许可。该电站选址邻近一座即将退役的燃煤电厂。
监管机构指出，这是近十年来NRC首次批准新建商业核反应堆，也是四十多年来首个获准的非轻水堆设计方案。NRC主席Ho K. Nieh称此举是"美国先进核能发展的历史性一步"。
泰拉能源的钠反应堆将采用液态钠进行冷却。这座装机容量345兆瓦的发电厂将配备储能系统，以提升输出效能。
泰拉能源于2024年3月提交建造申请，NRC于同年5月启动正式审查。该项目还需另行获取监管机构颁发的运营许可证。
