谷歌母公司Alphabet旗下自动驾驶部门Waymo近日针对外界质疑作出回应，坚决捍卫其远程协助团队的操作模式。该公司明确表示，在实际道路运营过程中，远程协助人员从未对自动驾驶出租车进行过远程驾驶操控。
Waymo解释称，远程协助团队的主要职能是在自动驾驶系统遇到罕见复杂路况时提供决策支持，例如临时交通管制或异常道路障碍等情况。但所有车辆控制权始终由车载自动驾驶系统自主掌握，远程人员仅通过加密通信渠道提供路线建议，而非直接介入车辆操控。
