位于纽约州奥斯威戈的诺贝丽斯工厂的重启时间，比公司此前设定的六月底目标略有提前。作为美国汽车工业最大的铝材用户，福特汽车曾在四月表示，预计奥斯威戈的轧制生产线将于本月重启。
该工厂是美国汽车工业最大的国内铝板供应商，为包括福特、通用汽车、Jeep和Ram的母公司Stellantis，以及在美国设有生产设施的外国汽车制造商在内的约十几家公司提供服务。
去年秋天奥斯威戈工厂发生的两场重大火灾导致其轧制生产线停产。此次停产对福特汽车的冲击尤为显著，因其畅销多年的F-150皮卡车身大量使用铝材。铝材短缺导致福特经销商在通常繁忙的夏季销售季来临前卡车库存减少。
总部位于亚特兰大、隶属于印度 Hindalco 工业公司的诺贝丽斯，一直从其欧洲和韩国的工厂向福特供应铝材。然而，根据前总统特朗普的关税政策，该公司进口的金属需缴纳50%的关税，这部分成本在汽车制造商采购铝材时被转嫁。
