In January 2026, the average price of G.652.D single-mode fiber in China exceeded ¥40 per core kilometer, reaching its highest level in nearly seven years. Some suppliers quoted prices as high as ¥50 per core kilometer, with monthly price increases surpassing 75%. Specialty optical fibers also saw significant price hikes: G.657.A2 (used in military/data centers) reached ¥60–70 per core kilometer, while G.654.E (ultra-low loss) rose to ¥240–260 per core kilometer.
Industrial Securities noted that the supply-demand imbalance in the optical fiber and cable sector remains unchanged. Continued demand from AI data centers and unmanned systems, coupled with persistent constraints in optical preform capacity, support the outlook for sustained price increases and a clear upward cycle in industry sentiment.
TF Securities indicated that the global optical fiber and cable market is expected to experience broad-based growth in 2026. North America stands out as one of the most significant regions for demand growth, driven mainly by accelerated construction of AI data centers and fiber broadband networks.
