According to media reports, amid escalating US-China tensions, Chinese autonomous driving developer Momenta is reportedly considering relocating its initial public offering from New York to Hong Kong. Sources indicate that Momenta has informed certain investors about a potential Hong Kong listing next year, though plans remain preliminary and subject to change, with timing, fundraising scale, and valuation yet to be determined.

In response, Momenta clarified that the company has not made any decisions regarding listing plans, including the listing venue. The company stated that claims about informing investors of a confirmed Hong Kong listing next year are inaccurate, and emphasized that it has not announced or confirmed any pre-IPO financing activities or participants.

Reports suggest that Momenta secretly filed for a US IPO application last year. According to the China Securities Regulatory Commission website, Momenta received approval for a US listing last year, but this approval expired in June this year, potentially prompting the venue change consideration.

Additionally, Momenta is reportedly seeking a new funding round with a target valuation significantly exceeding $5 billion. As Uber's Chinese partner, this valuation level would represent a substantial increase in the company's enterprise value. The company is currently working with advisors to assess potential investor interest, with preliminary fundraising targets of several hundred million dollars, though the final amount could be higher depending on the financing process.

Regarding reports of the new funding round, a Momenta spokesperson stated that the data and progress mentioned in reports are inaccurate, but declined to disclose specific details at this time.

Momenta is a Chinese Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) supplier with technology similar to Tesla's autonomous driving capabilities, enabling urban road navigation under human driver supervision. The company has received investment backing from Temasek Holdings, Tencent HK SDR 10to1, and Jack Ma's Yunfeng Fund.
