Australia's S&P/ASX 200 index rose 0.4% to 8,720.30 points, led by gains in the property and materials sectors.
The benchmark index was lifted after the S&P 500 approached a record high and the Nasdaq 100 set a new peak, as investors temporarily set aside concerns about elevated oil prices and high bond yields, giving U.S. technology stocks a boost.
New Zealand's S&P/NZX index rose 0.1% to 13,718.89 points.
