Samsung E&A announced on Friday that it has secured a 4.7 trillion won (approximately $3.5 billion) engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for a fertilizer plant in Saudi Arabia.
In a regulatory filing, the engineering and construction subsidiary of the Samsung Group confirmed that it has signed the EPC deal for the SAN-7 project with SABIC Agri-Nutrients, the fertilizer division of Saudi petrochemical giant SABIC.
The facility will be constructed at the Jubail Industrial City in eastern Saudi Arabia, with completion targeted for 2030. Once operational, the plant is designed to produce 3,500 tons of ammonia and 7,700 tons of urea fertilizer per day, with all output designated for export.
Samsung E&A noted that the plant will incorporate a carbon capture system, recycling carbon dioxide generated during ammonia production to manufacture urea fertilizer, thereby reducing emissions and boosting operational efficiency.
