Venezuela's Crude Oil Exports Rise for Third Consecutive Month

Venezuela's crude oil exports have increased for the third month in a row, surpassing one million barrels per day in April.

Exports have been recovering rapidly since the United States began regulating the country's oil sales earlier this year. According to shipping reports and tanker movements tracked by institutions, exports surged to 1.16 million barrels per day in April, reaching a seven-year high and doubling the level seen at the end of last year.

With the easing of U.S. sanctions, stable imports of diluents—necessary for transporting heavy crude via pipeline—have resumed, boosting production. In March, output approached one million barrels per day, the highest level since 2019.

Indian refiners are the largest buyers of Venezuelan oil. U.S. fuel producers have also increased their imports, with April imports nearing 407,000 barrels per day, a 16% rise compared to the previous month.
