美国能源部长与AMD首席执行官苏姿丰表示，美国已与AMD达成一项价值10亿美元的合作协议，计划建造两台超级计算机，用于解决从核能到癌症治疗再到国家安全等重大科学问题。
美国正在建设这两台机器，以确保拥有足够的超级计算能力来运行日益复杂的实验，这些实验需要庞大的数据处理能力。
美国能源部长称：“借助这些AI系统的计算能力，我们将在未来两三年内大幅加快进展，并找到切实可行的路径来利用聚变能源。”美国能源部长还表示，这些超级计算机将帮助管理美国的核武库，并通过分子层面的模拟加速癌症药物研发。“我希望在未来五到八年内，我们能将大多数癌症转变为可控的病症。”根据计划，首台名为Lux的超级计算机将在未来六个月内建成并投入运行。它将基于AMD的MI355X人工智能芯片，并配备AMD制造的中央处理器（CPU）和网络芯片。
受此消息影响，AMD盘中快速拉升。
