Coinbase Global, Inc. reported a drop in adjusted profit for the second quarter on Thursday, as gains in subscription and services revenue were offset by weaker trading activity amid reduced cryptocurrency volatility.

Retail crypto trading volumes remained sluggish in the second quarter as investor appetite remained muted amid market uncertainty and inflationary pressures, despite a rebound in crypto prices.

Apple rose 2% in overnight trading.

Apple forecast revenue for the current quarter ending in September well above Wall Street’s estimates on Thursday, sending shares up despite a warning from CEO Tim Cook that U.S. tariffs would add $1.1 billion in costs over the period.

As the centerpiece of U.S. President Donald Trump's trade war, those tariffs cost Apple $800 million in the June quarter and spurred some customers to buy iPhones in late spring this year. Those purchases helped Apple's fiscal third-quarter sales beat expectations by the biggest percentage in at least four years, according to LSEG.

Amazon.com fell 6% in overnight trading as its forecast third-quarter sales were above market estimates, but failed to live up to lofty expectations for its Amazon Web Services cloud computing unit after rivals handily beat Wall Street forecasts.

Reddit rose 16% in overnight trading as Reddit forecast third-quarter revenue above Wall Street estimates on Thursday, betting on growing digital advertising driven by its artificial intelligence-powered marketing tools.

Advertisers are increasingly turning to platforms such as Reddit, Meta, and TikTok, which offer advanced AI-powered tools for ad creation.
