In Liuzhou's Yufeng District, Guangxi, the Yinliu Community Women's Federation has pioneered a new approach to expanding grassroots women's organizations. In November 2024, they established the district's first property management company-affiliated women's federation.
Following its formation, the federation launched the "Neighborly Tea House," a platform that has successfully engaged over 50 core female volunteers and formed four specialized teams. Since its inception, the tea house has facilitated the resolution of more than 20 community issues, achieving a 98% resolution rate.
"Ms. Zhang, how's your elderly parent's blood pressure lately? Here's the latest health guide for you." "Ms. Li, don't worry about after-school care—let's discuss it over tea. We'll find a solution." These warm exchanges between red-vested female volunteers and residents in Sanliu Compound reflect the tea house's role in fostering community warmth and practical problem-solving.
The initiative stems from the community's demographic reality: nearly 80% of Sanliu Compound residents are elderly, women, or children. Community workers identified pressing issues such as working mothers struggling with childcare pickup, isolated elderly women needing assistance, and unresolved neighborhood disputes.
Under guidance from municipal and district women's federations, the Yinliu Community Women's Federation collaborated with property management firm KWG LIVING (合景悠活) to establish this innovative organizational model. "This isn't just adding another institution," explained a district women's federation representative. "It's about bringing services closer to residents, making the 'last mile' of women's services tangible."
The tea house serves multiple functions—a discussion space, reading corner, counseling area, and skills-training venue. Its name, "Neighborly Tea House," embodies its purpose: a place where women can speak freely and find solutions together.
Notable achievements include resolving a balcony-drying dispute through mediation and establishing volunteer teams offering weekend childcare classes, monthly health consultations, vocational training, and conflict resolution services.
"Got a problem? Visit the tea house" has become a community mantra. Nearly a year since its launch, the tea house continues to demonstrate effective grassroots governance through practical action.
