Recent data from the Hong Kong Stock Exchange reveals that on March 27, a shareholder of PLANETREE INT'L (00613) deposited company shares with Wai Fatta Securities. The deposited shares have a market value of HK$276 million, representing 16.45% of the company's issued share capital.

In a separate announcement, PLANETREE INT'L stated that the group anticipates reporting a profit before tax of approximately HK$30 million for the 2025 fiscal year. This represents a significant improvement compared to the pre-tax loss of about HK$212 million recorded for the year ended December 31, 2024 (2024 fiscal year).

The expected profit for FY2025 is primarily attributed to several factors: a net unrealized gain of roughly HK$150 million on financial assets measured at fair value through profit or loss; a reversal of impairment losses on receivable margin loans amounting to approximately HK$37 million; a share of profit from an associate company of about HK$48 million; offset by a net realized loss of nearly HK$81 million from the sale of financial assets measured at fair value through profit or loss; and a net fair value loss on investment properties of around HK$94 million.
