Rural Revitalization | A Single Protein's Agricultural Adventure: How Panshan Uses Biotech to Unlock the Secrets of a Bountiful Harvest

This year, Panshan County's integrated rice-crab farming has entered its critical management phase, but with a significant twist. For the first time, the region has introduced a biomass high-protein nutrient solution, based on core protein synthesis technology, into its rice-crab co-culture system, injecting new quality productive forces into traditional agriculture.

On the 650 mu of paddy fields managed by the Heshuang Rice Planting Cooperative in Panshan, crop protection drones are now following pre-set flight paths to evenly spray the biomass protein nutrient solution onto the rice leaves. Cooperative head Liu Zhuang has deliberately set aside comparison test plots to measure the technology's effectiveness with hard data. He reported that after applying the nutrient solution, the number of rice tillers increased noticeably, the stalks grew sturdier, the leaves turned a deeper green, and grain filling improved significantly. This technological empowerment is shifting traditional agriculture from "depending on the heavens for food" to "farming with informed precision."

Over at the Wujia Township rice-crab symbiosis base, where the rice paddies are lush and crabs scuttle beneath the water's surface, farmer Xu Zhanqiang has introduced the biotech product into a closed-loop management system under technical guidance. He was pleasantly surprised to find that water clarity improved significantly, both the survival rate and size of the crabs increased, and the rice grains became plumper.

Liu Yan, general manager of Liaoning Yima Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd., the technology provider, has been working on the ground throughout the entire trial, tracking data closely. She explained that the protein preparation optimizes the micro-ecology of the paddy water, enhances the immunity of aquatic organisms, and achieves a win-win outcome of higher rice quality and increased crab yields.

From the laboratory to the field ridges, a series of scientific research results are now breaking down the traditional boundaries of farming and aquaculture. With BeiDou-navigation-guided transplanting, precision drone operations, and a comprehensive mechanization rate for cultivation and harvesting approaching 100 percent, technology has become the most distinctive hallmark of Panshan's agriculture. Today, new quality productive forces in agriculture are reshaping the entire industry chain from its source, embedding the foundation of food security even deeper within the surging waves of rice and the agile movements of crabs, while fueling the momentum of rural revitalization with ever-greater power.
