On the afternoon of January 13, at the Baichuan-M3 model launch media briefing, Wang Xiaochuan, Founder and CEO of Baichuan Intelligence, introduced the company's new generation open-source, medically-enhanced large language model, Baichuan-M3. This model has achieved top rankings in diagnostic capability, mitigation of medical hallucinations, and on both the Healthbench and Healthbench Hard evaluations, surpassing OpenAI's GPT-5.2 and outperforming human doctors across all metrics.

"When we started the venture in 2023, despite various market skepticism, we knew AI had truly arrived. After the emergence of DeepSeek in 2025, the acceptance of AI among many doctors increased significantly, and people generally felt it was far more reliable than Baidu," Wang Xiaochuan stated. In his view, with recent entries into the medical field by companies like OpenAI and Anthropic, "AI in medicine has begun to enter the realm of practical application, becoming a primary focus for AI applications."

Wang Xiaochuan further commented on the recently high-profile "A Fu" from Ant Group, saying, "Frankly, I'm almost sick of seeing A Fu now; it's everywhere—in elevators, all over the market." In his perspective, the market's reaction indicates that healthcare, as the crown jewel of AI, is now entering the mainstream of practical application for everyone.
