Emperador Inc. (EMI) said the sale of its shares on the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited is subject to a Philippine stock transaction tax of 0.1% of the gross selling price or gross value in money, down from 0.6%, effective Jul, 01 2025 under the Capital Markets Efficiency Promotion Act.

The tax is a final levy on the seller and will be withheld by the relevant Singapore broker at trade settlement. Brokers may remit the collected tax to the Philippine Bureau of Internal Revenue through BDO Securities Corporation, appointed as the receiving and remitting agent, or via other channels such as affiliated Philippine brokers.

Seventeen Singapore brokers have been onboarded with BDO as at the announcement date: CGS-CIMB Securities (Singapore) Pte. Ltd.; Citigroup Global Markets Singapore Securities Pte. Ltd.; CLSA Singapore Pte. Ltd.; Daiwa Capital Markets Singapore Limited; DBS Vickers Securities (Singapore) Pte. Ltd.; iFAST Financial Pte. Ltd.; Instinet Singapore Services Pte. Ltd.; JP Morgan Securities Singapore Private Limited; KGI Securities (Singapore) Pte. Ltd.; Lim & Tan Securities Pte. Ltd.; Macquarie Capital Securities (Singapore) Pte. Limited; Maybank Securities Pte. Ltd.; OCBC Securities Pte. Ltd.; Philip Securities Pte. Ltd.; Tiger Brokers (Singapore) Pte. Ltd.; UBS Securities Pte. Ltd.; and UOB Kay Hian Private Limited.

If a broker’s arrangement with BDO ends, the broker must establish alternative procedures to ensure continued collection, withholding, remittance and reporting of the tax; otherwise, clients may be unable to trade EMI shares on the SGX. Emperador advised investors to confirm tax-payment arrangements and any additional fees with their brokers.
