At the World Humanoid Robot Games held today, Unitree Robotics fielded two teams: Hangzhou Unitree Technology and its subsidiary Beijing Lingyi Technology. The Lingyi Technology team's Unitree H1 humanoid robot claimed victory in the robot 1500-meter race with a time of 6:34.40, securing the gold medal and earning a 50,000 yuan prize.
Following the competition, spectators were curious about why some robots wore shoes while others competed barefoot, with the Unitree robot notably running without footwear throughout the entire race.
When asked whether wearing or not wearing shoes affects the H1 robot's performance, Unitree Robotics founder and CEO Wang Xingxing responded: "I think it's fine either way, because our robot's soles are relatively wear-resistant, so our robot can basically go without shoes."
The World Humanoid Robot Games is taking place from August 15-17 at the National Stadium (Bird's Nest) and the National Speed Skating Oval (Ice Ribbon).
