Junior explorer Critical Resources (CRR) has flagged a potential new mineralised zone at its Mavis Lake project in Ontario following a fresh round of drill intercepts.

Critical said its current drilling program in the Mavis Lake area highlighted multiple thick intercepts of spodumene-bearing pegmatite, though these hits have so far only been assessed visually.

Nevertheless, as the company awaits assay results for core from 29 holes drilled in the area, Critical said the new intercepts hinted at the existence of a new significant zone stacked under the Mavis Lake Main Zone.

The company said this stacked zone could link to previous intercepts at depth extending over a strike length of 500 metres.

“This is an extremely satisfying way to finish what has been a very productive year at Mavis Lake,” CRR Managing Director Alex Cheeseman said.

“The potential of a new zone is incredibly exciting and, as such, we are planning to drill-test the continuity of this stacked zone as a priority in the new year.”

He added that the identification of the potential new zone came less than two weeks after the company announced a major extension to the strike length of the Main Zone.

Critical Resources plans to recommence drilling in the area in January 2023. The company said while this work would focus on the continued extension of the Main Zone, it would also prioritise the drill testing of the potential new stacked zone.

Shares in Critical Resources were trading at 4.3 cents at 4:10 pm AEDT.
