3月28日，在第一公民银行同意收购硅谷银行之后，美国地区性银行股周一普遍上涨。第一公民银行收涨53.74%，Silvergate Capital收涨14.53%，近年一直为市场多担忧的第一共和银行也收涨11.81%。
市场认为，此次收购为美国银行业扫清了道路，使其有可能从硅谷银行和Signature Bank倒闭带来的混乱中走出来。第一公民银行实际上将收购硅谷银行的零售业务，包括联邦存款保险公司(FDIC)控制下的17家分支机构、存款和贷款。
据悉，这笔交易将带给第一公民银行约560亿美元的存款，以及以165亿美元的折扣价格收购的硅谷银行价值约720亿美元的资产。此外，FDIC估计，硅谷银行倒闭将使存款保险基金损失200亿美元，这使其成为美国历史上成本最高的银行倒闭案。不过，FDIC将获得价值高达5亿美元的第一公民银行股权增值权。双方将共同承担硅谷银行商业贷款的损失和可能获得的补偿。
Silvergate Capital的股价因这笔交易带来的乐观情绪而大幅反弹。不过，Silvergate Capital可能会吸引投机者。根据Fintel汇编的数据，Silvergate Capital的空头头寸占其流通股的71.64%，是最近交易时段中被做空最多的证券之一。Fintel的评分模型也表明Silvergate Capital被做空的风险很高。
