Brink's denied that it was in discussions with NCR about a strategic transaction.

Reuters reported Wednesday that the two companies were in advanced talks to merge NCR's ATM business with Brink's, citing people familiar with the matter. The sources said the deal could be wrapped up as soon as next week.

Brink's released a short statement hours after the initial report denying any discussions about a transaction.

The initial report sent NCR shares higher as Brink's shares fell. Brink's shares have retraced some of those losses and were recently down 5% at $69.84, while NCR shares were up 2% at $27.49.
