Shanxi Coal International Energy (SHA:600546) posted a net profit attributable to shareholders of 1.29 billion yuan in the first half of the year, slumping 58.1% from 3.08 billion yuan a year earlier, according to a Saturday filing on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
Earnings per share dropped year on year to 0.65 yuan from 1.55 yuan a year earlier.
The Chinese coal miner earned an operating income worth 14.1 billion yuan, falling 32% from 20.7 billion yuan in the prior year.
Shares of the company rose more than 2% at the close.
