LGI Homes (NASDAQ:LGIH) has had a great run on the share market with its stock up by a significant 27% over the last three months. So, based on the above formula, the ROE for LGI Homes is:

We then compared the company's ROE to the broader industry and were disappointed to see that the ROE is lower than the industry average of 15%. Hence, the flat earnings seen by LGI Homes over the past five years could probably be the result of it having a lower ROE.
We then compared LGI Homes' net income growth with the industry and found that the company's growth figure is lower than the average industry growth rate of 22% in the same 5-year period, which is a bit concerning.

Overall, we have mixed feelings about LGI Homes. Even though it appears to be retaining most of its profits, given the low ROE, investors may not be benefitting from all that reinvestment after all.
