Intrepid Potash said Bob Jornayvaz has stepped down as chief executive and a director of the board following an extended medical leave.
Barth Whitham, chair of the board of the fertilizer manufacturer, on Friday said the board's search to appoint a CEO is under way.
Finance Chief Matt Preston will continue to serve as acting principal executive officer, the company said.
In April, Intrepid Potash announced that it had granted Jornayvaz a temporary medical leave.
