TEMPO.CO, JakartaPT Rajawali Nusindo, a subsidiary of Indonesian state-owned food company ID FOOD, is exploring trade cooperation with Papua New Guinea. The discussion took place when the President Director of PT Rajawali Nusindo, Wahyu Sakti, received a visit from the Governor of Sandaun Province of Papua New Guinea, Toni Wouwou, in Jakarta on Thursday, October 10, 2024.

The cooperation plan targets the trade of food and non-food commodities produced and distributed by Rajawali Nusindo. This aims to boost the added value of national food products and the trade volume between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.

"We focus on encouraging trade cooperation for products produced and marketed by Rajawali Nusindo," said Wahyu in a written statement received by Tempo on Friday, October 11, ensuring that the company’s products meet the requirements for a bilateral trade process.

According to Wahyu, the company’s products are certified and verified. Rajawali Nusindo's products are also exceptionally suitable for market demands in Papua New Guinea.

In recent years, Rajawali Nusindo has produced its own food products under the 'Rania' brand. These products include premium rice, wheat flour, soy sauce, oil, and salt.

In the non-food sector, Rajawali Nusindo has products such as tissues under the brand name 'Nushi'. The company also produces liquid organic soil conditioner (PTOC) which helps improve soil structure. Rajawali Nusindo also distributes pharmaceutical products and medical devices for hospitals and government health institutions, as well as plantation tools and facilities.

Wahyu suggests the Papua New Guinea delegation's visit to Rajawali Nusindo be followed gradually by discussions and cooperation agreements. Because, according to him, regional trade cooperation is necessary to boost the added value of domestic products while increasing the country's revenue. "This is also one of the purposes of establishing a Food Holding, to become a food corporation that goes global," he said.
